Unaccompanied Baggage
Let's Talk Unaccompanied Baggage

Unaccompanied baggage is often referred to as UB, UAB, or the express shipment. This shipment is typically smaller in size, and designed for basic essential items. It is important to note that furniture cannot go into a UB shipment, and the only type that is authorized is a baby crib. Generally, UB shipments that are under 1,000 pounds will go by air while those over will go by sea. Depending on when you are moving and where you are moving to and from, even if authorized a UB shipment, the military may not have a moving company available to accept the shipment in which cases you could be denied the shipment. In this case, you could do a postal PPM and be paid based on the weight of any items that you mail to yourself at your next location.

Final note, if your UB is delayed due to AMC (Air Mobility Command), you will not be eligible for an inconvenience claim.
