TLE/TLA
Let’s talk TLE/TLA

TLE is the CONUS lodging entitlement
TLA is the OCONUS lodging allowance

It's important to note that TLE/TLA is often confused with Per Diem, but they are not the same.

TLE is lodging days used on either end of your travel days. You can use them all at one location or split them between your gaining and losing location.

TLE is not necessarily a $ per $ reimbursement of hotels depending on the government availability, if it’s used or not, and how much you spend.

If government lodging is available, then you need to use government lodging. If you do not use it then you are only reimbursed at the government rate.

If government lodging is not available then you need a letter of non availability and then you can book your hotel as you wish. You will be paid the amount used up to the cap of $290.

In the pic below you can see how the amount is calculated, but it is capped at $290 per day. So if your family needs 2 rooms, you can get 2 rooms, but you’ll only be paid up to $290 per day.

Receipts are required and they must’ve be itemized (meaning each day listed, not a general 7/1/2023 - 7/9/2023), and it must show $0 due.
