Tipping and Feeding

Let’s Talk Tipping and Feeding

We all know this is a highly debated topic, and people will do what they feel is best for them. This post is to discuss what the regulations state and best practices.

Transcom’s guidance are that providing meals is not required and providing monetary tips is discouraged. No one should ask for either, and if they do you should notify your local transportation office.

Many folks will provide cold drinks which is always appreciated. Having some bottled water or Gatorade in the fridge - especially in warmer climates or during the summer is a nice gesture.

Tipping is discouraged. If you choose to tip, the amount is entirely up to you. Keep in mind that you may have a different crew each day, and tipping do not necessarily mean you will have a good move.

Additionally, the concerns with tipping is that some families do not have the financial means for tipping, and tipping sets a precedent that it is required which is why Transcom discourages it.
