Service Member & Spouse Pro Gear

LET'S Talk PRO GEAR-

While this entitlement offers up to 500 pounds for spouses, do know that it does not include as much as it has in the past.

“Necessary for employment or community support activities”

If you are a certified teacher, then teaching materials may count.

If you are a mechanic, then your coveralls and tools can count.

If you are a certified personal trainer, you may be able to claim weights, and workout equipment.

If you own your home-based business, then materials and tools for things can be counted but any inventory or items that are resold do not count.

Furniture does not count.

Homeschooling equipment without being a certified/license teacher does not count.

Claiming any spouse pro gear must be declared up front and written out, and then marked as spouse pro gear on the inventory.

Due to others abusing this entitlement to work the system, local transportation offices are cracking down harder on what is approved as spouse pro gear. Of course, you can always claim something as spouse pro gear and if it gets counted- then great, but do not bank it counting towards your 500 free pounds until it is approved.
