Electronic Inventories
Let’s Talk Electronic Inventories

As we begin transition into the GHC program in September we will see more and more electronic inventories. They will be required under the GHC, so once we are fully transitioned it will all be electronic inventories. (Please see the post “Let’s Talk GHC” for more info on the program).

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

Inventories will be emailed immediately to the email on file in DPS, or by the next business day if there is connection issues.
Customer must be able to thoroughly review inventory, contents, including all comments, conditions and be able to annotate exceptions, per line item prior to signature
Inventory must not be editable once signed and provided to customer.
Customer has right to refuse signing inventory of they are unable to review and make notes on inventory
Over this past season with electronic inventories, we have heard several issues.
Here is what you may be told and how you handle it:

“You have to sign it to see it”
- You refuse to sign it, email your move coordinator immediately to let them know why you refuse to sign.
“There isn’t a place to put any notes”
- You refuse to sign it, email your move coordinator immediately to let them know why you refuse to sign.
“I can’t go back to view it now that it’s on the signature page”
- You refuse to sign it, email your move coordinator immediately to let them know why you refuse to sign.
“If you don’t sign it, I can’t/won’t send it to you”
- You refuse to sign it, email your move coordinator immediately to let them know why you refuse to sign.
If at any point you are told something that seems fishy or not right in regards to the inventory, you can refuse to sign it and then contact your move coordinator to let them know why.
They are not required to provide a hard copy inventory when doing an electronic inventory, only that it is emailed to you. As a fellow person who enjoys having a hard copy, I spend a few bucks at the hotel business center to print it out.
Please see the post “Let’s Talk Inventories” for a detailed explanation of how an inventory (electronic or paper) should be filled out and the parts of it.
